So I’m stoked tonight. Yesterday I finally found a couple of WordPress plugins that give a free ssl certificate. It takes a little bit of time to install and they have to be updated every 90 days, but they were easier to install than some of the SSL certificates offered by my favorite hosting company – Name Cheap.
One of these plugins (that I’m using for this site) is called SSL Zen and another that I’ve had good success with is called WP Encryption. Both seem to be very good tools for free ssl certificates – and both offer paid versions as well if you do not want to do the work. All in all, ‘the work’ is not too difficult – if you can follow directions and use c-panel on your website(s).
Not that long ago, ssl certificates were used pretty much by only e-commerce sites, but these days, if your website does not have one, it can get flagged by Google and others as unsafe to visit – which is total BS – at least in the case of my family of websites – all partners of Virtually Famous Marketing.
Name Cheap is definitely a decent hosting company with low, I mean really low hosting prices – especially for shared servers like I use for most of my sites. They include a free one year ssl certificate when you register a domain with them. But after that they charge a range of $6 to $17 a year for each domain. I already pay around $10 a year to register each domain I have, plus hosting – I hardly need to double my costs … So I opt for free – free is a really great price.
Although I have somewhat, kind of, sort of, cut down on the number of websites and urls that I have – I still have too many! I keep on threatening myself that I am going to start using them to make money … Maybe I should finally get around to doing it – especially since I’ve been coming across so many great tools. Speaking of great tools for online marketing, blogging and making money online, I think that I need to build a Great Tools page here at Joe Connector – as well as probably some of my other sites.
Some of the sites I have installed free ssl certificates on in the past couple of days include: Comment on CNN (because it is fake news), Eastside Business Journal, How I Quit Smoking Pot, Joe Abs, QAnon.fun, and ZenChi.uk. It seems like there were a few more, but I’m not remembering at this moment.
I definitely have many, many more that I need to install these plugins for – but all in good time. I also have a lot of great content to create …
