I’ve been a member of First Tech Credit Union for a few years now. Up until recently I actually liked it. But they’ve apparently taken up the policy that it is ok to screw their members with crazy fees during a worldwide pandemic.
Last month a mistake was made. I will even say that I made the mistake – although I am not sure this is true.
I scheduled a payment on one of my credit cards. Three days later, there were two payments (for the same amounts) taken out of my First Tech Account, leaving a negative balance. So – they charged me a very high $33 NSF fee. I immediately wrote them a secured message to explain the situation and ask for them to credit back the fee, so I could bring my account current.
First Tech Credit Union no longer values their members and denied my request for a NSF refund. Meanwhile, I had a $13 automatic payment hit my account – and they paid it and charged me another $33 fee. I again wrote them and kindly asked for them to credit back the fees considering a mistake was made and the global pandemic has made cash flow extremely tight.
Again, First Tech Credit Union denied my request. Meanwhile, in the next few days, a few more small auto charges hit my account. First Tech Credit Union continued to pay the charges and charge my additional $33 charges.
One more time I wrote kindly asking them to forgive the charges and allow me to bring my account current. They denied my request. I was done asking nicely.
I did make sure to pay all the charges to my account EXCEPT the BS NSF fees they’re trying to charge me: 5 x $33 = $163. There is no way in hell they will see one cent of that money. I’d rather be able to feed my family than pay these BS fees that they are using in an attempt to screw a long time member.
Shame on First Tech Credit Union! I definitely do NOT recommend First Tech Credit Union – use them at your peril!
