Organized one of the first ever conferences on Social Networking for Business on May 15, 2009.
The group of speakers was amazing and included Eric Weaver, now with Ants Eye View, Jason Preston and Steve Broback of the Parnussus Group, Kathy Gill, who teaches social media at the University of Washington, Andru Edwards of Gear Live, and video expert Jake Ludington. The event was nearly sold out and feedback was so positive, that I was asked by attendees and sponsors to put on the Social Media 101 Conference at Microsoft.
Organized, MC’d and was on “Local Social Media” panel at the Social Media 101 Conference held at the Microsoft Conference Center on September 25, 2009. I planned and orchestrated this event at the request of attendees and sponsors of my previous Social Networking for Business Conference. Another great group of super informative speakers, including a very well-received keynote by Eric Weaver, now a VP at Ant’s Eye View, a talk by uber-geek Chris Pirilloa and panel discussions featuring Edith Yeung, Founder of the SF Entrepreneurs Meetup Group, Kevin Urie, Founding President of Social Media Club Seattle and now with Spring Creek Group, Shauna Causey, now VP of Social Strategy at Decide.com and current President of SMC Seattle. This event was very well attended, had excellent coverage by major media and great feedback from attendees and sponsors alike. After this event, our sponsors and attendees were still asking for more.
Partnered with Fresh Consulting to create the Social Media 201 Conference, which was held at the Microsoft Conference Center on April 15, 2010. Speakers included Dave Hanley, Banyan Branch Co-Founder and CEO, Darren Williger, President of Regillo Consulting, Eric Weaver, VP at Ant’s Eye View, Bille Baty, COO of Phi Concepts, Kristen Ruby, CEO of Ruby Media Group and Dr. Udi Schlessinger, Managing Partner of U Labs. Sponsors included previous sponsors of my events, including Comcast Business Class and the Microsoft Local Engagement Team.
Founded Bellevue Business Journal as a local community business newspaper during a time of massive change in Bellevue, Washington. This publication won awards and honors, including Media of the Year from the Seattle / King County Board of Realtors. The paper ceased printing in 2009, but the spirit lives on – online at BellevueBusinessJournal.com.
