For the past couple of weeks I have been working on getting Bellevue-based startup, Deals4Dreams set up and established on Facebook and Twitter, while attempting to engage many different nonprofits to show them how they can benefit from the program. It really surprises a lot of people when we tell them that they can offer their members and supporters amazing deals twice a week from Deals4Dreams – and that their nonprofit group will receive 50% of the profits.
There are indeed a fast growing number of startups in the deal space and some of them do offer a nonprofit component – but all that I’ve seen only benefit a small number of charities, or the percentage of proceeds they receive is real small – or both. I’ve seen a couple in the past few days that only pay 5% of the entire deal …
At any rate, many people have quickly picked up on what a great deal Deals4Dreams is for their organizations and have signed up as fast as they could. Inaugural non-profit partners of Deals4Dreams include: Moms6Days, Stop NF2, ICDI, Charity Water, Navy Seal Foundation, Edmonds Public Schools Foundation, Crooked Trails, Live Glocal, and Pano Koumantaros Cancer Research Fund which will all benefit from all the deals purchased by their supporters on their Deals4Dreams website.
Tomorrow, Thursday August 25th, 2011 is the day the first Deals4Dreams deal gets sent out and they want to make it very special. They won’t even tell me (or the non-profit partners) what it is going to be, only that it is something that no deal site has ever done before – especially for its first deal – and will probably sell out. That gets me even more excited about the launch and want to make sure to let all the people who follow us through social media to get a chance to purchase the deal – and help the charity of their choice!
If you want to be one of the first to see the first deal from Deals4Dreams, make sure to sign up.
